Performance with Wynton Marsalis at NYC Benefit

Bob recently performed with Wynton Marsalis at a benefit for The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children at the Pierre Hotel. Wynton was being honored along with Mrs. Kofi Annan, and he played a haunting rendition of Embraceable You. Then Merrill and Marsalis played a spirited two-trumpet version of Cherokee, followed by a surprise guest appearance by Wycliffe Gordon, Wynton's former principal trombonist with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. They closed with Joe Bushkin's classic Goin' Back to Storyville, backed by the stellar rythym section of John Colianni on piano, Nikki Parrot on bass, and Joe Ascione on drums.

Arbors Records "March of Jazz" Festival

Clearwater Beach, FL — Florida fans of Bob Merrill will be happy to hear that he'll be appearing at Arbors Records March of Jazz Festival in Clearwater Beach. The festival runs from March 19th through 21st, 2004.

Counting Crow's Adam Duritz At Newport Jam

Newport, Rhode Island — Adam Duritz, lead singer of the popular pop band Counting Crows took to the stage for an impromptu performance, at a recent gig at Newport's scenic Castle Inn.
Demonstrating a surprising versatility, Duritz sang Cole Porter's Everytime We Say Goodbye, confiding to Bob that it was his favorite "shower song."
